Cancun's Ritz-Carlton Teams Up with Pet Rescue Organization Rescate Malix to Help Animals and the Local Community [2]
The Ritz-Carlton Cancun has just announced the creation of a new dog wash community footprint [3] activity called The Dog Wash project [4]. By making a $39 USD tax-deductible donation to non-profit pet rescue organization Rescate Malix [5], guests of the resort can now volunteer on the first Saturday of the month. This will give travelers the philanthropic opportunity to give back to the local community. Guests can visit the Rescate Malix’s Rescue & Awareness Center located next to an ancient Mayan site, where they can wash, groom, and walk rescued animals. The organization also helps find the animals permanent homes.
The director of operations described the new project by saying, “the Dog Wash project helps us to raise awareness for a culture of non-violence towards animals, a principle that is in the core of our values, while offering a unique and fun activity for visiting families and friends.” Nora Rodriguez, the training manager of the project, added that, “the real goal is education and awareness.”
