H-E-B Grocery Company Reaps Benefits of Doing Business in Mexico [1]
H-E-B Grocery Company, a leading privately owned supermarket chain founded in Kerrville, Texas in 1905 is expanding in Mexico. With headquarters now based in San Antonio, Texas, H-E-B has planned to open five new stores in Mexico in 2012. The President of H-E-B Mexico, Howard Butt II, claimed that these new stores will make H-E-B’s total number of stores in Mexico, 44. New stores will be located in Monclova, Saltillo, Victoria, and Monterrey. H-E-B is already currently operating another store in Monterrey. This store is part of their affiliated low-rice chain called Mi Tienda del Ahorro.
H-E-B started doing business in Mexico [2] around 15 years ago to expand sales and profits in both the Mexican and American economic sectors. Doing business in Mexico has proven highly beneficial for the company. H-E-B’s Mexico sales were reported to have gained $1.2 billion in 2011. Furthermore, H-E-B’s presence in Mexico has secured local individuals in Mexico with 7,500 jobs.
